There Is a Clear Message in the Appearance of Chaos - Allow Yourself to See It
Death of an Artist
The vial in the painting denotes a "spill" and the abstract appears to most as chaos or mess. Some can see the pattern or choices in colour, tone and placement. In life, there are situations where ambiguity or the appearance of randomness or chaos confuses us. We can then choose to believe that there is no order, that there is no choice, but the stoics would say that it is not the occurrence that should guide or form us, but our response or our choice to ignore that is within our domain. That our lives would be better served by controlling what our reaction is. What the artist is suggesting is rather than abjectly choosing to not see a message in abstraction, allow yourself to react and seek meaning or simply move on. The debris and paper are useful items that have been discarded. They are shredded paper that contained messages and nuts, washers, bolts and clamps that are tools we use to build. It is the hope of the artist that those that see chaos or in abstract begin to use different tools and personal choice to look deeper. The words are meant to help start the viewer to see the message differently.
