Death of an Artist Collection
My Take on Being in an Angry, Beautiful, Hopeful, Dismal New World (the Step Toward Being Different)
Death of an Artist
This first piece for Death of an Artist explores my thoughts and feelings about identity, past leadership, and turning the camera on ourselves while understanding history. It examines critical thinking (or lack thereof) and perspective. The holes punched in magazines, newspapers, and books represent two things: that we can add or remove elements from history and facts to create new narratives, and that we can change narratives by adding our lens. The drops of ink represent what we write about life, both in analog and digital form, and our influences. This piece sets the context for my headspace and hope that we learn to read and research, even when information and transparency are limited. These limitations don't reduce our ability or requirement as humans to be moral, ethical, and educated.
