My Ears Started Ringing Less When The Path Became Clea

Death of an Artist

The next time you look at abstract art and believe that it's easy, that it has no meaning, think of the depth and breadth of this show. With all the other images and words in this show, the artist believes that you should be able to access your own meaning in abstract art. Joseph Ross is an abstract painter that believed it was up to the viewer to derive meaning from an image. He had a deep connection to every single piece of art he created, but believed that once the image was complete it was the viewer's turn to interpret for themselves. This is why it was rare for him to name individual pieces, and when he did, he would translate the name into a different language to obfuscate the meaning, allowing for the viewer to decide. Although the Death of an Artist series has broken this tradition, the final four pieces of pure abstract, in the artist's purest style, will remain unexplained to allow the viewer to add their like/dislike and interpretation.
