Death of an Artist Collection
I Can No Longer Afford To Travel Due To An Excess Of Invisible Baggage
Death of an Artist
Some of this panel has been left as plain wood. As we grow older we become layered by our life experiences. Some have hundreds of layers and some choose to, are designed to (or confined to) minimize and simplify life. Why would you guess the clipping about sea waves is important to this narrative? Why would another abstract clipping add to the theme? How do the words add or detract from the message? Does the debris add or detract for you? In this image it adds colour in a different way. The artist wanted to add orange elements that related to baggage. This could have been done with paint drops, but instead it is done using a different method. Sometimes the paper is part of the abstract, sometimes the paper is meant to help you glimpse inside the artist when he was creating the image, but what truly matters is how you feel and what you see. This is not about the artist. It is about you.
